Parker Loves To Swing

Sunday, April 12, 2009

This last week Parker has had the opportunity to experience swings. First at our city park with his cousin Maya and second at his Uncle Jeremy's house. He also enjoys the slide too. I am looking forward to summer and trips to the playground.

Parker 11 Months

Sunday, March 15, 2009

Parker is 11-months old today, 20.8 lbs and 28 inches (yes the same as last month). His new favorite thing is to pull books from bookshelves and then tear out pages, we have decided for the sake of our books, Parker is banned from bookshelves (easier said than done), I think he really misses his favorite target--Mom's old textbook on Employment Law. He has become very curious and loves to explore. One of his favorite items to put in his mouth is pieces of carpet, which he will then chew on; I have pulled a ton of carpet pieces out of his mouth. We have received a lot of comments about Parker's hair; its getting pretty full in the back and curly. I think it is super cute, but now it needs to be cut soon. I was hoping to wait until his Grandma comes home from Africa at the end of May and can cut it for him. His new thing is to arch his back when we go to pick him up after he is getting into something he shouldn't. He is sleeping through the night again (yipee) after a few rough weeks of the "crying method" and me giving in a few too many times, our night sleeper seems to be back (we're keeping our fingers crossed). Parker also got a new car seat this month and seems to like it as much as his last one (which isn't much), and we get the new adventure of him riding in grocery carts without the carseat. He is still giving great kisses and hugs, I hope he never grows out of that one.

Look Mom - I sewed something

Wednesday, February 18, 2009

I don't sew at all, and my parents gave me a sewing machine a few years ago for Christmas (my Mom would make our Halloween costumes and my prom dress). I once used it to sew patches on Brooks' scout leader uniform (yikes) and that is about it. Well I pulled it out and dusted it off and made some hats sporting our favorite team colors. It was supposed to be super easy, I will admit I had to use the seam ripper after sewing the hats upside down (I guess I should not of bought material with words). Here is the end result, one for each of us, and with the left over fabric I made a Parker size scarf (no pattern too).

Parker 10 Months

Parker is 10 Months old. He is standing up all the time and cruising along the furniture. He has also increased how fast he crawls and will put his head down to really get going, it is fun to watch. He speed crawls to the bathrooms for his baths, he loves bath time and loves to splash, by the end of the bath most of the water is on Mom or Dad. Parker has also been leaving his mark on his crib, gnawing away at the rail with his 8 teeth. We finally bought a Gummi crib rail cover (had no idea they made them), it was funny to read the reviews of other parents who have had to buy one too. Since his crib is convertible to a double bed, when he is a teenager he will see the marks he left when he was a baby. He says Da Da a lot, although I encourage Ma Ma too. Parker weighs 20 pounds and 8 ounces and is 28 inches tall. I love this picture, he looks like a little man in his white shirt and tie. He loves his books.

Happy Valentines and Birthday

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

We had a fun Valentines Day as Parker celebrated his first 0ne. Parker especially enjoyed playing with the balloon Brooks gave me, he would pull down on the ribbon causing the balloon to bonk him in the head and then laugh hysterically. I also had a enjoyable birthday the next day, and Parker helped me blow out my candles. Parker enjoyed playing with his cousins who celebrated with us. Thanks to everyone that came for cake and ice cream.

Viva Las Vegas

Parker and I got to tag along with Brooks while he attended a conference in Las Vegas last week. While Brooks was at his conference all day, Parker and I went exploring. It was not warm as you will see in the pictures Parker is bundled up. We stayed at Treasure Island, and I got some good walking in. The furthest we walked was to the MGM Grand to see the Lions, Parker fell asleep soon after we got there so I am not sure if he even saw them. Another highlight was M&M World where Parker got his picture with Red and Yellow. Enjoy the pictures.
